new card, where can I go now

Newly minted Oregon card is in hand. I don't want to grow, period. Not interested, not capabile, don't have the time. I'm an old guy, I just want my medicine and relief, and I would drive 1,000+ miles and days and days to get it.

I have this newbie fantasy that with my new card, I can somehow get this done; all I need to do is get some good instructions with specifics.

Someone please help me with the straight dope here, no pun intended, I'm in serious pain and would like to stop the prescription merrry-go-round asap.

Hi Dave, glad you have your card now. When I got my first ommp card,like you i had no clue where to go next sooo,I joined the local chapter of Norml and had my medicine the same day ! I also got a grower through the networking they do.Also if you have a local Voter Power clinic they can help you get a grower and some stash through their "patient advocate" services.Hope you get some relief real soon.

I had a grower in Eugene earlier this year, but he folded his operation. So... I'm hereby putting out an all-points bulletin for a legitimate designated grower, preferably near me in Albany, but Salem or Eugene/Springtucky would work ok too.

Wow... I am totally at a loss here. Got all my paperwork in order, have no idea what to do... call the number, always get the message "busy with another client." Join the forums and read the rules, see this:

Medical Marijuana patients are asked to refrain from using the site to solicit caregivers and/or collectives at this time.

So where does somebody who is new to this go to find out what to do? Not encouraged by the total lack of activity on this site recently... if anybody is out there please help. Thank you.

Well, I see the lack of activity is not because nobody is using the site anymore... but because nobody is using the forums in favor of some facebook-like interface. Looks like there are in fact plenty of you out there and active on this site. I'm tired. Will try to figure this out some more tomorrow. If anybody does happen to see this, any advice would be appreciated.

I just wanted to post an update, because I was confused and desperate for help last time I posted. Thanks to the awesome people on this site I did get this figured out... there is certainly still some caution out there around this which surprised me being totally new to the scene and thinking we were all clear and legal. But yeah, there's some serious grey areas despite the legality hence the caution rules of no soliciting on the site and whatnot.

So if anybody else comes through this thread in the same position I was, totally new, totally confused, not knowing anybody who is in the scene already to help figure this stuff out... stick with it. Now that I am properly medicated it has been a life-changing thing. It can be confusing and stressful to figure out but it is worth it. I have never had such good quality of life before. And it's all thankful to the cool people on this site.

Post here about your situation, people will reach out to you, but DO be careful not to break any of the rules, they are in place for a reason. You can do this!
